The bearings on the upper part of the gearbox are lubricated with oil immersion or forced lubrication. In order to prevent oil leakage in the direction of the lower shaft extension, the gearbox adopts a combination sealing method. In the currently selected gearbox, forced lubrication is not required, and oil immersion lubrication is used. This requires a supplementary oil tank on the upper part of the gearbox, and the oil level in the supplementary oil tank should be higher than the position of the bearings on the upper part of the gearbox to meet the needs of bearing oil immersion lubrication.

It is worth noting that the output shaft of the reducer is subjected to axial and radial forces. Due to the conventional installation of the bearings on the output shaft of the reducer, there are certain limitations on their ability to withstand external forces. When there is a significant external force, the reducer structure should be redesigned and bearings selected based on the provided axial and radial forces.


The torque on the steel rope drive wheel of the overhead passenger vehicle is relatively high. If it is directly connected to the reducer through a coupling, its external force is much greater than the radial and axial forces limited by the standard design and the reducer with reinforced bearings.


By adopting a specially designed gearbox, the cost will significantly increase. In actual production use, when the equipment manufacturer connects the drive wheel with the reducer, an additional set of bearing seats is added to bear the radial force of the steel rope drive wheel, in order to eliminate the influence of external forces on the reducer.
